Identity Checks

It is important that you know that everybody is working for you legally.  You should have undertaken checks on their immigration status before taking them on, otherwise you are liable receive a financial penalty of up to £10,000.  You will also need to undertake annual checks on those employees who are living and working in the UK on a temporary basis. 

It is possible that the UKBA will inspect your business to check that all is in order. If you have been told of a pending visit from UKBA officials we can advise you on what to expect and how to deal with that visit. 

If you have been served with a notice of liability for a penalty you may be able to object to it or to appeal to the County Court.
