A well known publisher wanted to re-publish back editions.  The text belonged to the publisher but the illustrations had been drawn by our client.  We had to research to see the terms upon which the illustrations had been incorporated into the original publication.  We then put in place a royalty agreement to protect our client's position on future publications.

Copyright material had been gifted under the terms of a Will to our client.  The question arose as to what copyright material actually belonged to the deceased.  Had this previously been assigned to a world publisher?  We verified that the terms of the original agreement with the publisher did not incorporate all copyright material and so we were able to establish the copyright material which had been validly gifted to our client.  There were valuable rights attached to this copyright which then enabled our client, a charity, to benefit.

Our client's web designer designed a new website for them.  The designer then "disappeared” and it became clear that he had not acquired the necessary copyright consents for all the material used in our client's new website.  Claims were made against our client which were substantially reduced on us showing that the claimant either did not hold the copyright themselves or that the commercial value was negligible.
