A lady instructed us to prepare her Will and power of attorney. We were to be her executors as she had no children and no close family. She was worried that her papers were all kept securely so that these could be found easily after her death, and in particular that her wishes were carried out for her funeral arrangements. She was pleased to take up the portfolio service as she could keep all her important papers safe in one place so that these could be found easily after she died, and with the review service she felt secure in that these would be kept up to date with her wishes.
We advised Mr M in connection with his Will and tax-planning over a number of years. He had kept detailed records of his investments and also of gifts he had made, as he realised that when he died the people administering his estate would need to declare these. However, as his affairs were quite complicated, and as he was becoming increasingly forgetful and frail, he agreed that he would like us to keep full details of his affairs as well as copies of his important papers using the portfolio service as then he would also have everything reviewed each year at no extra cost. He particularly liked the re-assurance of knowing that if there was significant change in the law or tax rules, that this would be brought to his attention as part of the service.
Mr N instructed us to administer his late wife's estate, to review his Will and to prepare his Lasting Power of Attorney . It was clear that he also needed to ensure all his affairs were kept orderly, and that these would need to be kept under regular review especially when it came to the making of lifetime gifts for his inheritance tax planning. Mr N wanted us to check his Income Tax affairs, so we enrolled Mr N in our Portfolio service which gave him peace of mind in knowing that he would be contacted annually to check if he needed to review his affairs. It also meant that copies of all his important details and records were kept safely in the Portfolio itself.
