Mr W approached us following a series of issues at work which remained unresolved. After discussing these with Mr W we suggested that an informal approach may be the best first option. We suggested ways in which Mr W could put forward his concerns and helped him outline proposals to resolve his concerns. He was pleasantly surprised when the informal meeting resulted in an apology from the employer and a more pleasant working environment.
Miss G contacted us when she wished to make a formal grievance about what she considered was bullying and harassing behaviour of her boss and some of her colleagues. The treatment suffered had been continuing for some time and Miss G had been worn down by it to the extent that she did not have the emotional resources to compile a formal written grievance. After speaking to us, we were able to draft a comprehensive and detailed grievance specifying potential breaches of internal procedures and discrimination law. The employer unfortunately failed to deal with the grievance appropriately and Miss G was forced to resign and lodge a claim at Tribunal. The costs of taking this step were greatly reduced because of the significant detail contained in the grievance. Following the lodging of her claim, the employer made a generous offer to settle the claim which was accepted.
